The Chinese Foreign Minister to pay an official visit to Cambodia

Phnom Penh, August 10th, 2023 - In an upcoming event of diplomatic significance, His Excellency Wang Yi, a prominent member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and also the Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, is set to undertake an official visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia from August 12th to August 13th, 2023. This visit comes following an invitation extended by His Excellency Prak Sokhonn, Cambodia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

A highlight of this visit will be the gracious royal audience that His Excellency Wang Yi will receive from His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni, at the Royal Palace. Additionally, His Excellency will also pay calls on Hun Sen, the Prime Minister of Cambodia, and His Excellency Hun Manet, who holds the position of Prime Minister-Designate. These meetings are anticipated to address a wide array of issues concerning collaborative efforts both on a bilateral and multilateral scale, aligning with their shared priorities.

Beyond these pivotal discussions, His Excellency Wang Yi will engage in separate meetings with key Cambodian figures. One meeting will be with His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn, responsible for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

Another dialogue is scheduled with His Excellency Sok Chenda Sophea, Minister Delegate attached to the Prime Minister and Secretary General of the Council for the Development of Cambodia. These dialogues aim to span across various dimensions of cooperation, traversing both bilateral and multilateral realms, all while aligning with the mutual interests of both nations.

This imminent visit coincides with the commemoration of the 65th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations and the Year of Friendship between Cambodia and China. The visit is expected to further solidify the existing Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Cooperation, bolstered by the shared pursuit of a high-quality, high-level, and high-standard Community with a Shared Future. Furthermore, this event is expected to fortify the Diamond Cooperation Framework and enhance collaborative efforts on regional and international platforms, ultimately leading to mutual benefits for the citizens of both nations.
